More than 70 ticketed in Virginia Beach red light enforcement campaign

Comments Off

Seventy-three people were ticketed by Virginia Beach (VA) police Wednesday for not coming to a complete stop before making a right turn at a red light, a Virginia Beach police spokesman told The Virginian-Pilot.

Attorney Rick Shapiro wrote earlier this week about Virginia Beach’s special effort as part of National Stop on Red Week.

“We’re asking our officers to pay special attention to this issue this week, but we’ll do it year-round, campaign or not,” a spokesman told the newspaper.

Enforcement was focused most at Witchduck Road at Virginia Beach Boulevard, Lynnhaven Parkway at Holland Road, Kempsville Road at Princess Anne Road, and Great Neck Road at Virginia Beach Boulevard.

National Stop on Red Week is sponsored by the National Campaign to Stop Red Light Running, which has in the past been funded by the the red light camera enforcement industry.
