A serious car accident in Fayettesville, North Carolina (NC) killed one and sent the child passenger to the hospital with serious injuries.
According to the Fayettesville police, a Dodge Magnum on Owen Drive ignored a stop sign and slammed into another car at the intersection of Owen Drive and Gillespie Street at 9:30 am on September 22.
The high speed of the crash sent both cars flying 400 feet from the point of impact. The driver of the car that was hit died at the scene, and his boy passenger was seriously injured.
The police noted that the car was just sitting there at the light, was not moving, and was killed.
The Dodge driver also was taken to the hospital but police have not stated what his condition is. Speed was definitely a factor in the crash, the police stated.
The assistant police chief stated that it was the worst car accident he had ever seen.
This tragedy is a potent reminder of the phrase, ‘speed kills.’ Statistics show that speeding occurs in 1/3 of all fatal car crashes. Male drivers between the ages of 15-20 are most likely to speed and die in car crashes. All of us would greatly benefit if we would slow down on the roadways and obey posted speed limits.
