Elizabeth City police have successfully concluded their “Operation Spring Bling” which allowed then to arrest and charge 30 people with drug crimes recently after a months-long investigation that included many law enforcement agencies.

Serving six warrants yesterday alone, law enforcement agents swooped in on homes in the 200 block of Queen St., 400 block of Roanoke Ave., 1200 block of Highland Ave., 400 block of Davis Ave., 400 block of Massachusetts Ave., and the 400 block of Perry St., the release says.

A complete list of names of the people arrested and charged on 80 different counts during “Operation Spring Bling” is being compiled and will be released later today, police said. They mentioned that there are still other people being sought that are included in these crimes.

Operation Spring Bling has been an ongoing investigation over the last three months. It was originally initiated after complaints from Elizabeth City residents, police wrote in a public release statement.

The three month project included Elizabeth City police as well as, state alcohol enforcement officers, the Drug Enforcement Administration, Edenton Police Department and the sheriff’s offices of Pasquotank County, Camden County, Chowan County and Perquimans County according to the press release.

It is a comforting thing to know that our law enforcement professionals are busy behind the scenes keeping dangerous elements at bay with the work that they do. Elizabeth City and surrounding North Eastern North Carolina Counties are more than likely much safer now that these criminals are out of our neighborhoods along with their habits that could have brought further harm or injury to our community.
