A  Fayetteville, North Carolina (NC) driver was killed early Friday when his SUV slammed into a tree, police said.

According to authorities, the automobile crash occurred around 5 a.m. on the 1400 block of Pam alee Drive in Fayetteville.

The victim died at the scene, and a passenger was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries as police reports indicate.

A preliminary investigation determined the driver was speeding and lost control of the SUV when the crash occurred. The names of the occupants haven’t been released.

Speeding is so often a partial cause of  car wrecks. Driving too fast for the conditions can lead to vehicles, especially SUV’s , going off the road.”
