Edgar "Eugene" Gooch, a chemistry professor at Elon University was struck by a car while riding his bicycle Friday night on University Drive in Elon, NC. Gooch died as a result of the accident. According to WFMY News the police are still investigation the cause of the crash and no mention has been made regarding charges against the driver.

Bicycle accidents in North Carolina are common occurrences, especially since an increasing percentage of the cycling community includes children.
