Residents on the Outer Banks looking to repaint their homes in the towns of Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head and Manteo should be careful regarding a recalled power sprayer by Wagner. Today, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Wagner brand paint sprayers are recalling about 35,000 of their units.
They have been shown that the on-off switch can be dislodged from the casing, resulting in exposure of electrical connections. This can pose an electrical shock hazard to the consumer so Wagner is recalling the product. So far, there have been no reported incidents or injuries using this paint sprayer.
Authorities responsible for the recall are including the Wagner Control Spray Plus Model 0414248. This particular model number can be found on a white label located on the side of the motor housing on the sprayer. The following date codes are affected by this recall and can be found stamped on the bottom of the motor housing near the air hose connection: Control Spray Plus/0414248 with numbers Y182R through Y365R or Z001R through Z366R or A001R through A021R.
The power paint sprayers were sold by major chain home centers like Lowes, Home Depot and other hardware stores nationwide from August 2007 through April 2009 for about $99. It is important that consumers should immediately unplug and stop using the sprayers, and contact Wagner for a free repair.
