Wrongful death is any kind of fatality which is caused by an individual or a company’s negligence and/or intentional harm. The victim’s family has the right to seek compensation for hospital and funeral expenses. The most common causes of wrongful death are:

• aircraft accidents
• car and bus accidents
• exposure to known toxins (including asbestos and benzene)
• medical malpractice
• railroad accidents
• recalled (or unsafe) medications
• slip-and-fall accidents
• unsafe products
• work-related accidents

According to statistics on wrongful death given by the Center for Disease Control, about 91,000 patients die of medical mistakes and 7,000 patients die of medical complications and or adverse reactions. It is also reported that nearly 20,000 die of slip-and-fall accidents, there were 5,800 work-related fatal accidents, while 17,400 die of DUI-related accidents. There were a total of 45,000 people that die in car accidents, which 5,000 of these were caused by trucks.

To be able to claim wrongful death, the victim’s family must be able to prove the death was caused by someone else’s negligence. If you think that a member of your family or loved one might be a victim of wrongful death, its best to contact a lawyer who will help get you the compensation that is deserved.
