Pembroke, North Carolina police say a woman driving a car in excess of 100 mph jumped railroad tracks and slammed into two motorcycles, killing two bikers and injuring a third person late last Friday night.
Pembroke’s Chief of Police, Dwayne Hunt, reported that the driver of the car never braked as she sped into town and lost total control. The motorcycles were hit as they were turning into a gas station lot.
Chief Hunt says one lady died instantly. She was a passenger on one bike. The driver was critically injured. The other fatality was a resident of Pembroke and she was riding alone on the other bike.
Tragically, this fatal collision could have possibly been prevented if the driver of the speeding car had obeyed the law and stayed with the speed limit and following proper safety rules. Instead, we have the loss of innocent motorcyclist whose lives have been cut short by the unexpected.
