The town of Belhaven had a challenge last Saturday on their 4th of July celebration. It seems that they had a problem with faulty fireworks. They ended up with many that didn’t go off and were now trying to get rid of them. Upon closer inspection, ATF agents assisting in the Ocracoke tragedy investigation found some startling similarities in Belhaven’s faulty fireworks. Specifically, Belhaven’s fireworks came off the same truck as Ocracoke’s fatal batch.
The final tally is now four workers killed and one injured from that same shipment of bad fireworks that exploded on Ocracoke Island last Saturday morning. An estimated 60 fireworks in Belhaven failed to go off Saturday. According to Belhaven revelers, the July 4th display in Belhaven this year had very low shooting fireworks that skimmed over the water appearing very strange, it was apparent something wasn’t right.
