According to published reports, a Virginia (VA) jury recently gave a surprisingly strong award for a “soft tissue” auto injury case. While driving, a 39 year old flight attendant was rear ended. The next day she saw a chiropractor and, after six months of chiropractic therapy for soft tissue injuries to her neck, left shoulder and back, she was discharged.

She still, however, was in pain. Never in her 18 year career as a flight attendant had she experienced this much pain. During the trial at the Fairfax, Virginia (VA) County Circuit Court, her doctors, her supervisor, and sister testified. The verdict date was on June 5, 2007 in the amount of $200,000.

Our firm, Hajek, Shapiro, Cooper, Lewis, & Appleton, has also found that juries will respond with fair compensation in accident cases that the car insurance companies have ignored or tried to low ball. To do well in court, it helps to have a real injury and a pleasant plaintiff. The justice system in Virginia (VA) can work to provide a remedy, when the auto insurers refuse to pay fairly.
